About the Role
A Real Estate & Hospitality Company is seeking an Insurance Counsel with 5+ years' experience for a 3-month engagement starting as soon as possible. The role involves providing interim coverage for a legal team member on maternity leave, with a primary focus on insurance-related matters.
Responsibilities
- Manage insurance claims and disputes.
- Oversee litigation handled by insurance-appointed outside counsel.
- Respond to consumer and regulatory complaints.
- Support insurance and owner-classification matters.
- Coordinate with insurance brokers and internal business teams.
- Assign and track matters through the company's internal ticketing system, Freshservice.
- Follow up directly with business stakeholders.
- Work directly with business teams.
- Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude as part of the legal team's day-to-day workflow.
Requirements
- Experience handling insurance-related legal matters, including insurance claims and disputes.
- Experience overseeing litigation managed by outside counsel.
- Experience responding to consumer and/or regulatory complaints.
- Ability to work directly with insurance brokers and cross-functional business teams.
- Comfortable using AI tools (primarily ChatGPT and Claude) as part of day-to-day legal work.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and track matters through a ticketing or workflow management system.
Additional Preferences
- Prior in-house experience strongly preferred; startup experience is also viewed favorably.
- Experience in the insurance industry (such as a past role at an insurance company), and/or hospitality, software, or real estate industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Junior to mid-level attorney is preferred, though more senior candidates will be considered if they fit within budget.
- Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders rather than solely in a law firm environment.
- Experience with Freshservice or a similar ticketing/workflow management platform is a big plus.

Schedule: Full-time
Duration: 3 months
Compensation: $90 - $120 per hour
Candidates must be able to work full-time starting as soon as possible. The work will be performed remotely. The selected worker will be employed (W-2) by a workforce solutions company for the duration of the engagement.
