Insurance Coordinator (Workers' Compensation and OSHA)

About the role

Shearer Companies is seeking an Insurance Coordinator to oversee insurance programs, workers' compensation administration, safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance across our family of logistics companies. This is a highly collaborative role that partners with operations, HR, leadership, and insurance vendors to reduce risk, improve workplace safety, and support our employees.

Responsibilities

• Manage workers' compensation claims from start to finish
• Coordinate return-to-work and light duty programs
• Serve as the primary contact for insurance carriers, brokers, TPAs, and vendors
• Monitor insurance programs and identify opportunities for cost savings
• Lead OSHA compliance efforts and maintain required reporting
• Coordinate facility safety inspections and recommend improvements
• Facilitate safety committee meetings and employee safety training
• Analyze claims trends and recommend strategies to reduce workplace injuries
• Support annual workers' compensation audits
• Assist with cargo, warehouse, and client-facing insurance programs
• Partner with leadership to strengthen company-wide risk management practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in workers' compensation, insurance coordination, risk management, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers' compensation laws
• Experience managing insurance claims and vendor relationships
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to analyze trends and develop practical solutions
• Comfortable collaborating with leaders across multiple departments
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
