Job purpose

The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance with respect to insurance and risk management.
  • Responsible for insurance coverage plans, including property, general liability, D&O, builders’ risk, and workers’ compensation, including the procurement and renewal of policies.
  • Cook up with various departments within the Foundation to prepare insurance application information and coordinate submission.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for insurance broker and insurance company representatives.
  • Assess potential claims and advise with respect to coverage issues, claims reporting and submission requirements, strategy, and litigation.
  • Review and analyze insurance contracts and advise with respect to same.
  • Review contracts for insurance and indemnification-related provisions and coordinate with Legal Department the handling of third party certificates of insurance in connection with vendor and event contracts.
  • Address workers compensation coverage questions.
  • Manage designated team members, supervise work and assign tasks.
  • Represent the values and brand of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
  • Operate in accordance with the goals, needs, and mission of the Foundation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house team and extensive experience with insurance-related issues.
  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school; 5 years of legal experience; and active license to practice law in New York.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle significant responsibility.

Working conditions

Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events needed.

Pay

$110,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
