About the role

Insulator/Metal‑man responsible for applying, removing, and repairing insulating material to exposed surfaces or structures such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings to help control noise and maintain temperatures. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and select required insulation material.
  • Work at heights without fear.
  • Brush adhesives on or attach metal adhesive to insulation material.
  • Determine amounts and select insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll) such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, or urethane‑based material based on heat‑retention, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
  • Measure and cut insulation material to specified size and shape for flat or round surfaces using a tape measure, handsaw, knife, or scissors.
  • Fit, wrap, or attach insulation material around or to a structure according to blueprint specifications.
  • Cover or seal insulation with pre‑formed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape, securing it with a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Employees must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lb may be required, as well as work at elevations, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces. Visual, hearing, communication, and motor skills must be sufficient to safely perform job responsibilities. Employees must read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies; exercise sound judgment; solve problems; maintain attention to detail; manage stress; and adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Work may be performed in industrial and construction settings with exposure to weather, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site‑specific hazards. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn and all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness‑for‑duty requirements met.

Qualifications

  • Education: No minimum education requirements.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of journeyman‑level experience in insulation work.
  • Legal authorization to work for any employer in the United States; the company cannot sponsor employment visas.
