Instrumentation Coordinator- Sterile Processing -The James Outpatient Care
About the role
The Instrumentation Coordinator works to prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and or clean all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. The Instrumentation Coordinator ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections. This position is responsible for ensuring sterilized, appropriately functioning medical supplies and instrumentation are packaged and delivered to the point of use aseptically. Additionally, this position serves as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise. This position will also be responsible for procuring, and standardizing instrument trays across the Enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate efficient case flow through daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments, including case cart assembly and decontamination.
- Assist in projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Promote customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments across the Medical Center.
- Order, procure, and organize instrument trays on a global level to service the entire Enterprise.
Requirements
- High school graduate or possess the G.E.D.
- At least one year of experience as an instrument processor or Surgical Technologist.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification issued through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification issued through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) required upon hire, or must obtain certification within 6 months of hire is required.
Qualifications
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, TECHSYS and Censitrac tracking.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships; execute customer service, leadership, adaptability, and problem solving skills.
Skills
- Ability to learn software programs and/or hardware as required.
