Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Consultant 2 - Nuclear
Nuclear Power is a carbon-free energy source. Our nuclear power generation clients are digitizing their existing power plants and building new nuclear power plants, including small modular reactors (SMR), due to increasing demand for electric power. This expansion is driving growth in our Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group.
About the role
This I&C position offers the opportunity to work on upgrading and modernizing nuclear power plants with the latest control technologies. You will lead and support small and large controls projects, focusing on technical execution and effective project management. These projects require coordination with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines to ensure successful completion.
Responsibilities
- Develop digital systems design, including PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems.
- Prepare control system functional and implementation requirements and procurement specifications for nuclear plant control systems.
- Interface with clients to ensure proper project execution and satisfaction.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and studies to present information clearly and concisely.
- Manage resources, resource loading, and develop estimates for task completion and budget development.
- Support the development of proposals.
- Prepare and review diagrams and drawings for new and upgraded controls solutions.
- Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
- Interface with vendors to perform document reviews, ensure equipment compliance with specifications, and witness factory acceptance testing (FAT) on behalf of the client.
- Support project implementation at client facilities.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide variety of controls engineering issues.
Requirements
- BS degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 10 or more years of experience in I&C Design Engineering, with at least 5 years at a nuclear facility.
- PE license is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both speech and writing.
- Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for systems design.
- Experience serving as the firm’s client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
- Experience reviewing design documentation.

Pay
Compensation range: $145,310.00 - $222,001.00. Eligible positions include a base salary or hourly rate, comprehensive benefits, and potential participation in a yearly discretionary bonus.
