Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Consultant 2 - Nuclear

Join our Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineering group as we support nuclear power generation clients in digitizing existing plants and building new nuclear power plants and small modular reactors (SMRs). This role focuses on upgrading and modernizing nuclear power plants with the latest control technologies, offering opportunities to lead and support both small and large controls projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop digital systems design, including PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems.
• Prepare control system functional and implementation requirements and procurement specifications for nuclear plant control systems.
• Interface with clients to ensure proper project execution and satisfaction.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and studies to present information clearly and concisely.
• Manage resources, resource loading, and develop estimates for task completion and budget development.
• Support proposal development.
• Prepare and review diagrams and drawings for new and upgraded controls solutions.
• Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
• Interface with vendors for document reviews, equipment compliance, and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on behalf of the client.
• Support project implementation at client facilities.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide variety of controls engineering issues.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines to complete projects.

Requirements

• BS degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10 or more years of experience in I&C Design Engineering, with at least 5 years at a nuclear facility.
• PE license is preferred.
• Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for systems design.
• Experience serving as the firm’s client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
• Experience reviewing design documentation.

Pay

Compensation range: $145,310.00 - $222,001.00. Eligible positions include a base salary or hourly rate, comprehensive benefits, and potential participation in a yearly discretionary bonus.
