Instrumentation & Controls EIT/Coordinator - Power Generation
About the role
The Instrumentation & Controls EIT/Coordinator position within HDR's Power sector involves engineering tasks with varying levels of complexity. These tasks are assigned by Project Engineers or Project Managers, and the EIT may work independently on smaller tasks or assist senior engineers on larger, more complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Check manufacturer's drawings and perform engineering calculations.
- Work on design layouts, verify code compliance, conduct quality checks, meet project schedules and budgets, and coordinate work with other disciplines as needed.
- Typical design work includes power distribution, motor control, lighting, power system analysis, and grounding.
- Depending on project size, the EIT may supervise designers and CAD operators.
- Participate in field reviews or construction observations.
- May require familiarity with Piping and Instrument Diagrams and possess professional work experience.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with other disciplines and demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Attention to accuracy and detail orientation is essential.
- May involve some travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently and with a project team to complete tasks.
- Knowledgeable of Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Wonderware, and/or Interlution.
- Microsoft Office experience.
- May need to travel.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work among other disciplines and have good communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Display attention to accuracy and be detail-oriented.
- Preferred qualifications include previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm, a 3.0+ GPA, and interest/some experience in sustainable design/LEED.
- EIT certification is strongly preferred, but candidates without it will be titled as "Coordinator" and expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
- Candidates hired without their EIT will be given preference to local candidates.
Skills
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills are essential. Familiarity with Piping and Instrument Diagrams and Microsoft Office is beneficial. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are crucial.
