About the role
The Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer (PE) serves as a Project Advisor within Halff’s Energy practice in Texas and Oklahoma. This role provides strategic leadership and technical expertise, expanding Halff’s presence in the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and strategic guidance to project stakeholders and leadership.
- Manage multiple projects, including scheduling, resources, and quality control.
- Lead projects, make technical recommendations, and resolve complex design issues.
- Develop cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor.
- Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design standards, safety requirements, and regulatory criteria.
- Support business development efforts and mentor technical staff.
- Perform site visits, inspections, and evaluations throughout design and construction phases.
- Interface with utilities, vendors, and contractors to coordinate design and installations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction.
- Manage quality assurance and control analysis to ensure projects meet or exceed client expectations and Halff requirements.
- Manage budgets, schedules, subconsultants, and client interaction.
- Support estimates and client presentations to grow the business.
- Apply technical expertise to understand and apply project-specific standards, criteria, deliverables, and best practices.
- Support operation managers and practice leaders in pursuing construction engineering and inspection opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- 12+ years of I&E engineering experience, preferably in Oil & Gas or Energy.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools specific to Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineering in the Oil & Gas and Energy industry.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and regulatory codes and standards.
- Proven project management and leadership experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with industrial control systems, low voltage power, protective relays, switchgear, MCCs.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, API, AGA.
- AutoCAD and Microsoft Office proficiency; field/construction support experience preferred.
Skills
- Control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and network architecture design.
- Knowledge of hazardous area electrical classification.
