About the role
The I&E Engineer will lead and support the design and execution of electrical power and instrumentation systems for midstream and upstream Oil & Gas and pipeline projects. This role combines technical design, project management support, and client interaction, with opportunities to mentor department personnel.
Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering documents, drawings, plans, and specifications in coordination with Project Managers.
- Manage multiple projects, including scheduling, resources, and quality control.
- Perform field visits to collect data, support construction, and strengthen client relationships.
- Lead projects, making technical recommendations and resolving complex design issues.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers, EITs, and technical staff, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within project team.
- Interface with utilities, vendors, and contractors to coordinate design and installations.
- Develop equipment specifications and perform design reviews, calculations, and analysis.
- Support estimates and client presentations to help grow the business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project budgets, allocate resources effectively, and identify opportunities to optimize project efficiency and profitability.
- Apply technical expertise appropriately by understanding project specific standards, criteria, deliverables and best practices.
- Manage quality assurance and control analysis to ensure projects meet or exceed client expectations and Halff requirements and comply with recognized standards and codes of practice.
- Aid in the development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Support in preparation of proposals and RFQs.
- Supports operation managers and practice leaders in pursuit of construction engineering and inspection opportunities. Manage budgets, schedules, sub consultants, and client interaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- 8+ years of I&E engineering experience, preferably in Oil & Gas or Energy.
- Technical leadership and mentoring experience.
- Proficiency with industrial control systems, low voltage power, protective relays, switchgear, MCCs.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, API, AGA.
- AutoCAD and Microsoft Office proficiency; field/construction support experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and network architecture design.
- Knowledge of hazardous area electrical classification.
