About the role
Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, seeks an Electrical Engineer (PE) to join a dynamic team focused on delivering exceptional service to clients while making a meaningful impact on communities and the world.
Responsibilities
- Performing all aspects of electrical engineering design as a lead engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout for building design and site electrical utilities
- Making presentations to a variety of groups
- Preparing effective and concise documents and correspondence
- Obtaining guidance from senior engineers and the Department Head to resolve technical and coordination issues
- Providing and supervising electrical support services during the bidding process, including preparing addenda and amendments as required
- Representing the firm on-site during the construction phase, answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings
- Participating in team meetings and coordinating efforts with other team members
- Directing, supervising, and training junior electrical staff as directed
- Mentoring and monitoring the professional development of junior electrical staff
Requirements
- Graduate of an ABET-accredited 4 or 5-year engineering program in Electrical Engineering (Building design or power distribution focus), Electrical Engineering Technology (Building design or power distribution focus), Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering focus), or Architectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering focus)
- 7 years or more of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role with a Electrical Engineering firm or a multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm with substantial knowledge of applicable energy codes and standards
- Must be a fully licensed Professional Engineer in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdiction

Preferred Experience
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and design practices with LEED AP accreditation preferred
- Strong experience in the design of building power distribution, lighting, communications and security systems
- Experience as a lead designer or Electrical Engineer in federal, state, municipal, healthcare, commercial, higher education or similar projects plus experience in Design/Build and CM at Risk project delivery methods
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD), or Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional (CLEP) certifications are desirable
- Active participation in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations
- Previous experience with wireless communications projects will be given additional consideration for Electrical Engineers assigned to our Wireless Communications division
Working Conditions
JMT offers a hybrid work schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required. Our office environment is comfortable, has adequate lighting and temperature, and is free from noise, dust, and other hazards.
