About the Role
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a candidate to provide I&C engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects in our Virginia Beach, VA office. Candidate will serve as the lead I&C engineer on projects for water and wastewater facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, control panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details
- Supervision and mentorship of less experienced staff
- Coordinating with the other disciplines (process/mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil)
- Performing quality reviews of BIM models, Revit families, and CAD based files used in the production of contract documents
- Inspection, testing, and approve of I&C work provided by contractors at water and wastewater facilities
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of water/wastewater or industrial process instrumentation and equipment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- 7-12 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering and design
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- BS/BE Engineering
- Must have a PE License, or ability to obtain within one year of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple years of experience performing I&C design for public sector water/wastewater clients
- Understanding of processes and equipment for various water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and conveyance systems
- PLC/HMI configuration/programming experience
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, designers, and other staff
- Experience communicating and coordinating with clients
- Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D
