Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs, tests and inspects a wide variety of equipment common to regulators, odorizers and telemetric systems.
  • Makes calculations of electrical and pneumatic systems to assure their proper functioning.
  • Installs telemetric and recording gauges at various locations within the system, changing charts and changing batteries in clocks on a schedule.
  • Prepares various daily, periodic or occasional reports on work performed, condition of equipment or status. Factual and accurate reporting is required.
  • Inspects, sets, refills, installs and otherwise adjusts and maintains odorizers. May be required to compute flow rates and evaluate consumption of odorant.
  • Performs shutdowns of various stations and equipment, coordinating the efforts of construction and Maintenance and System Control.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper truck stock, work material, tools and supplies.
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Must have a technical academic background, which includes satisfactory completion of courses named Physics and Algebra.
  • Applicable trade school certificate.
  • Valid Class E or chauffeur’s driver’s license

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Must pass the validated work test applicable to this position.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license with appropriate classifications.
  • Must be physically fit, sound, active and capable of performing heavy manual labor.
  • Must be able to read mechanical or electrical blueprints and sketches.
  • Must be able to use wide variety of hand and automatic tools required for installing and servicing associated equipment and routine test instruments.
  • Must be able to pass medical clearance for respirator use.
  • Wears PPE when required or appropriate

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Work at various plants, locations and stations including central office, vaults, customer premises and under various schedules.
  • Normal work schedule is five over seven and subject to call out under the terms of the Labor Agreement
