Instrument Supervisor

About the Role

Assists the Maintenance Superintendent in directing technical personnel and planning and scheduling maintenance work. Provides supervision for contract maintenance and construction projects and may assume some duties of the Maintenance Superintendent in their absence.

Responsibilities

• Meets daily with production, engineering, and management personnel to review work orders for repair.
• Conducts performance reviews on department employees.
• Assists the engineering department in the design and specification of equipment for projects, improvements, and additions to plants.
• Assists the Store/Receiving Department in setting up spare parts as needed.
• Helps train operation personnel on electrical and instrument equipment as required.
• Participates in morning staff meetings as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Five to seven years of experience with industrial/process instrumentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior supervisory experience.
• Prior work in a manufacturing chemical facility.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
• Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
• Required to be medically certified for respirator use and medically fit for duty.
• Use of PPE required in specific areas.

Work Environment

• Chemical manufacturing site, with exposure to chemicals.
• Works in both office and manufacturing environments.

• May require call-outs on nights and weekends.
