Instrument Fitter Journey

About the role

Under direct supervision, the Instrumentation Journeyman is responsible for the installation of tubing, support material and mounting instruments as required, to provide fully functional instrument and control systems. This role requires the ability to perform basic functions of an Instrumentation Journeyman and supervise a helper.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for knowing and following appropriate safety procedures
• Acquire knowledge on methods and materials needed to accomplish assigned maintenance, repair or construction tasks
• Perform miscellaneous tasks that require manually moving materials, tools and equipment and use of hand and power tools
• Perform work area clean-up and safety-related duties
• Acquire knowledge to install new and used equipment such as controllers, flow meters, pressure transmitters, analytical instrumentation controls, recorders as well as instrument air piping
• Requires working in operating facilities and observing and abiding by additional safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience working in the industrial, instrumentation construction environment
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Possess valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Must have all necessary tools
• Must be NCCER certified Instrument Fitter
• Ability to pass drug test as mandated by the Saulsbury Industries and Department of Transportation anti-drug program
• Must attend and successfully complete Saulsbury Industries safety training education
• Attends safety meetings and specialty training as directed by management
• Attends various training classes as may be assigned by management
• Ability to take needed safety precautions in performing the work
• Knowledge of basic rigging safety practices

• Ability to reach below knees while standing
• Ability to stoop or kneel
• Ability to work 50 or more hours each week
