Instrument & Electrical Technician
Celgard, LLC, a part of the Asahi Kasei Group, develops and manufactures membrane battery separators critical to lithium-ion batteries for electric drive vehicles (EDVs) and energy storage systems (ESS).
About The Role
We are seeking an Instrument & Electrical Technician to join the Maintenance team in Charlotte, NC. This night-shift position (7pm–7am on a 2-2-3 schedule) reports directly to the I&E Supervisor and does not involve supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical calibrations and preventative maintenance under minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical power systems, motor drives, control systems, and instrumentation.
- Safely use test equipment such as volt, ohm, and current meters, megohmmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble production equipment.
- Install and verify correct instrument installation; support new equipment startups with point-to-point verification.
- Update electrical drawings and procedures as needed; write detailed reports.
- Operate PIV equipment (forklifts, portable hoists, cherry pickers, one-man lifts).
- Repair and replace electrical components.
- Train other maintenance personnel on I&E systems and areas of expertise.
- Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing teams; participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all Celgard safety guidelines and foster a safe work culture.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent (required).
- Associate degree or certificate in Electrical Technology (highly preferred).
- 3+ years of industrial instrumentation and electrical experience.
- Experience with any of the following is advantageous:
- Instrumentation and control loops for temperature, pressure, tension, and flow.
- Blown or cast film extrusion, lamination, process ovens, web coating, or web converting equipment.
- Automation and robotics.
- Military technical experience in electrical, instrumentation, electronics, automation, or control systems is welcomed.
Skills
- Diagnostics and setup of PLC and AC inverter drives (preferred: Allen Bradley RSLogix 500/5000, Powerflex drives).
- PIV equipment operation (forklifts, portable hoists, cherry pickers, one-man lifts).
- Troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems and reading electrical schematics.
- Fanuc robotics and Omron AMR troubleshooting and repair (preferred).
- Mechanical systems knowledge (a plus).
Schedule
Night shift: 7pm–7am on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule.
