Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is a multi-campus institution in Upstate New York with locations in Troy and Malta. HVCC offers over 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The college serves nearly 9,000 students annually and is a leader in career preparation, workforce training, and distance learning.

About the role

HVCC seeks an experienced, dynamic Welding and Fabrication Instructor to join its Engineering and Architecture department for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a full-time, tenure-track position based in Troy, New York. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; HVCC does not sponsor visas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom instruction in Welding and Fabrication, with the ability to teach machining technology.
  • Evaluate student performance and complete required assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on course and program development, including transfer course review.
  • Participate in departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees.
  • Perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract under the direction of the Department Chairperson.

Requirements

  • Certification in Welding from an accredited institution (minimum qualification).

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a Welding-related field (preferred).
  • Three years of experience working in the welding industry (preferred).
  • Experience teaching or mentoring welding in any setting (preferred).
  • Experience teaching online, hybrid, or in-person classes at the college or high school level (preferred).

Schedule

  • 10-month appointment (151 days) with a work obligation during fall and spring semesters.
  • Annual teaching load of 30–33 contact hours (typically 18 in fall, 15 in spring).
  • May include evening, weekend, and/or online assignments.
  • Potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.

Pay

Minimum salary of $53,000. Faculty appointments may be at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience.
