The Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. The Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

  • Provides quality and technically relevant instruction in Pharmacy Technician best practices.
  • Provides continual feedback and various methods of assessment measurement by ensuring student mastery of the following learning outcomes:
    • Explain the legal and ethical guidelines to which a pharmacy technician must adhere.
    • Discuss how professional standards and ethical principles impact a pharmacy technician.
    • Recall the different classifications of drugs.
    • Recognize the different routes of drug administration, forms, and dosages.
    • Recognize the basic anatomy and physiology of the human body.
    • Demonstrate the essential functions relating to inventory control and purchasing.
    • Explain the procedures and techniques related to aseptic technique, compounding, and parenteral dosage preparation.
    • Differentiate between trade and generic names and abbreviations of drugs.
    • Explain the procedures related to the manufacturing, packaging, and labeling of drugs.

Job Summary

Provides quality and technically relevant instruction in the assigned program. Follows departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality and technically relevant instruction of course curriculum.
  • Teaches students learning strategies.
  • Credits teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulatives, props, and other learning aids.
  • Provides continual feedback and various methods of assessment measurement by ensuring student mastery of the following learning outcomes as addressed in the program's addendum.
  • Affairs with assessing and recording grading for all homework assignments, quizzes, and tests.
  • Completes paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
  • Participates in marketing of courses to prospective students by providing technical information regarding course content during biannual Open House events.
  • Affairs with assisting with course and/or program evaluation and continuous improvement and resolve quiz disputes when necessary.
  • Maintains acceptable program quality and satisfaction scores.
  • Keeps Program Manager informed of any curriculum or student code of conduct issues.
  • Records attendance in learning management system.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience: Five (5) years working in a retail, commercial, hospital, or compounding pharmacy.
  • Knowledge: Additional Preferred Qualifications include Teaching Experience, Additional Preferred Qualifications, and Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities.
