Instructor Pool - 2026/2027: Student Success

About the role
The College of Business invites applications for fixed-term, non-tenure track, full/part-time Instructors to teach on a term-by-term basis for the 2026-2027 academic year. Some appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position annually at the discretion of the Dean. This position is responsible for instruction, curriculum development, classroom management, and overseeing academic projects as part of the Student Success curriculum. The role includes participation in strategic planning efforts supporting the College of Business mission, vision, and goals related to the Student Success program.
Responsibilities
- Teach Student Success courses using inclusive, student-centered instructional practices that promote academic success and engagement.
- Develop course materials, curriculum, assessments, and classroom activities while supporting the delivery of Student Success programming.
- Plan and implement student success initiatives, including orientation, welcome week, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Provide individualized mentoring and holistic support to students while fostering an inclusive and welcoming learning environment.
- Participate in service activities that support the College, University, profession, and initiatives advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Business, Education, College Student Services and Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- Experience supporting students in their personal, professional, and academic pursuits in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and advancing the participation of diverse groups and perspectives.
- Demonstrated record of effective teaching at a high school level or accredited university.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, utilizing inclusive language and the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy across diverse cultural boundaries.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- High computer proficiency, including strong MS Office experience (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and working knowledge of Outlook and Windows/Mac.
- Ability to maintain professional decorum and learn or work within OSU systems.
- Successful completion of a criminal history check, as this position is designated critical or security-sensitive. Incumbents must self-report convictions; those in youth programs may have additional checks every 24 months.

- Experience utilizing best practices in retaining first-year students in a higher education setting.
- Ability and willingness to learn new programs and applications quickly.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize appropriately, pay attention to details, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with ambiguity.
Schedule
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekend work. Teaching assignments may include site-based in-person, asynchronous online, or hybrid formats.
