Location

The Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. The Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

  • Provides quality and technically relevant instruction in Medical Billing and Coding
  • Provides continual feedback and various methods of assessment measurement by ensuring student mastery of the following learning outcomes:
    • Explains or recalls key medical roots, suffixes and prefixes and explain and interpret ICD-10-CM/PCS coding conventions to assign codes accurately
    • Interprets inpatient diagnosis and procedure coding and reporting guidelines and explain differences among acute care inpatient settings, outpatient, and physician office health care settings
    • Sets HCPCS level II procedure and services codes for outpatient care
    • Interprets CPT guidelines, coding notes, and modifiers to assign codes accurately for all sections and subsections
    • Identifies examples of third-party payers and define each health care reimbursement

Job Summary

Provides quality and technically relevant instruction in the assigned program. Follows departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality and technically relevant instruction of course curriculum
  • Teaches students learning strategies
  • Counsels students on academic progress and development
  • Conducts teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulatives, props, and other learning aids
  • Provides continual feedback and various methods of assessment measurement by ensuring student mastery of the following learning outcomes as addressed in the program's addendum
  • Affirms and records grading for all homework assignments, quizzes, and tests
  • Completes paperwork associated with classroom and project management
  • Participates in marketing of courses to prospective students by providing technical information regarding course content during biannual Open House events
  • Assists with course and/or program evaluation and continuous improvement and resolve quiz disputes when necessary
  • Maintains acceptable program quality and satisfaction scores
  • Keeps Program Manager informed of any curriculum or student code of conduct issues
  • Records attendance in learning management system

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Other Required Qualifications: Certified Professional Coder - Instructor distinction through AAPC
  • Required Experience: Five (5) years as a Certified Professional Coder
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching experience preferred
