About the role

SWCCD is seeking part-time instructors to teach Medical Billing and Coding courses, including CPT and ICD-CM coding.

Responsibilities

  • Teach MEDOP 21: Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Coding
  • Teach MEDOP 22: International Classification of Diseases (ICD-CM) Coding

Requirements

  • Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, OR
  • Any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
  • Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • It is also required for applicants with a master’s degree.
  • Applicants with foreign degrees must have their coursework evaluated by a NACES-member evaluation service and submit a copy of the evaluation with the application.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Billing and Coding, or Medical Assisting.
  • Minimum two years of experience in CPT and ICD-CM coding.
  • Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Salary

Salary Schedule: Academic Part-Time – Instructional Pay range: $72.85 – $105.85 per hour.

Additional Information

  • Candidates selected for employment must complete fingerprinting (LiveScan) within 10 days of employment, tuberculosis clearance (within the past 4 years) within 60 days of employment, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Successful Candidates May Be Assigned To Any SWCCD Campus: Chula Vista, Crown Cove, National City, Otay Mesa, or San Ysidro.
