Position Overview
Cameron University’s Department of Social Sciences seeks a full-time Instructor of Criminal Justice, starting August 2026. The role includes teaching undergraduate courses across a range of criminal justice topics, engaging in student advisement, department and university service, and supporting student scholarship. Faculty may teach face-to-face, online, or hybrid courses, with flexibility in instructional format.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate criminal justice courses based on faculty expertise and program needs
- Support student advisement and mentoring
- Auxiliary with program and department assessment and development
- Participate in departmental and university service activities
- Support student organizations and events
- Engage in professional development and maintain subject matter currency
Qualifications
- Minimum: Master’s degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Broad expertise in law enforcement, criminology, and corrections
- PREFERRED: Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Three years of teaching experience in higher education
- Familiarity with teaching research methods
- Experience in online instruction and Quality Matters standards
- Professional experience as a practitioner in criminal justice or related field
