Responsibilities
- Affords assessments, diagnoses, and treatments of neurology patients according to approved protocols and acceptable standards.
- Executes necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician.
- Participates in the design and revision of protocols.
- Collaborates with Medical Physicians and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients.
- Makes referrals as appropriate.
- Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
- Develops strong partnerships with patients, family members, fellow providers/nurses, and support staff.
- Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
- Involves managing the care of children with new and ongoing neurological disorders, developing education plans for families, and ordering appropriate consultation and referrals when indicated.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required. Doctor of Nursing Practice degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. Experience in the role of an APRN preferred.
- Current DEA certification and must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
- Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee is required.
- Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary or Acute Care.
