About the role
This position involves teaching, service, scholarship, and leadership within the School of Nursing's ASN and/or BSN programs. Responsibilities span course development, instruction, student evaluation, and program innovation.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the development and evaluation of the ASN and/or BSN program.
- Develops, teaches, and evaluates assigned courses in theory, clinical, skills lab, and simulation lab settings.
- Evaluates student performance on exams, course assignments, and in clinical environments.
- Serves as a course coordinator, as appropriate, and coordinates clinical rotations with clinical agencies and adjuncts.
- Teaches 12 credits per semester, including theory, clinical, skills lab, and simulation lab.
- Participates in ongoing course and curriculum revision.
- Provides service at programmatic, School, University, and community levels, including assessment activities, recruitment, and retention efforts.
- Advises currently enrolled and prospective students.
- Maintains scholarly and professional development activities.
- Contributes to program innovation, assessment, evaluation, and accreditation within the School of Nursing.
- Participates in, manages, or leads projects within the School of Nursing and University as requested.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing (required or near completion).
- Doctoral degree in nursing preferred.
- Unencumbered license as a Registered Professional Nurse in West Virginia.
- Minimum of two (2) years recent acute care experience with a focus in medical-surgical nursing, ICU, or mental health.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree.
- Previous teaching experience in classroom, skills lab, and simulation lab settings.
- Experience with assessment and national accreditation.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with Blackboard Learning Management System and online learning.
- Ability to foster student learning through innovative teaching modalities.
- Ability to develop and maintain partnerships within the University, clinical agencies, and the profession.
- Commitment to the University and School of Nursing mission.
