About the Role
The Raj Soin College of Business invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the Instructor/Lecturer level. Successful candidates should be committed to growing the programs, excellence in teaching, service to the student and university, professional growth, research, and scholarship. This position will actively participate in and support accreditation processes and the development of new courses and programs.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, including developing and managing curriculum in the Accountancy and MBA programs.
- Deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession, with a commitment to experiential learning.
- Introduce new teaching techniques, evaluate student progress, and engage students through interactive and innovative practices.
- Maintain a minimum of four regular office hours per week, spread over at least two days, and meet with students outside scheduled hours as needed.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new program initiatives, including new course development, curriculum updates, and assurance of learning.
- Incorporate business analytics and artificial intelligence into the teaching of the accountancy discipline.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, advising and mentoring them throughout their studies.
- Provide evidence of teaching excellence and success with a diverse and multicultural student body.
- Assist in the development of course learning outcomes, curriculum maps, resource guides, textbooks, syllabi templates, and updated course materials.
- Engage in shared governance at the school, college, and university levels.
- Actively pursue student recruitment, retention, and success, including attending recruitment and outreach events each semester.
- Regularly attend school, college, and university meetings.
- Demonstrate leadership in service activities that support the mission and strategic plans of the school, college, or university.
- Create and provide oversight of program/industry advisory boards.
- Represent the program in regional campus meetings, special events, open houses, and orientations.
- Leverage professional networks and create local events to increase program, college, and university brand visibility.
- Advance knowledge and business practices through practice-oriented research, scholarly activities (e.g., textbooks, conference papers, journal articles), and professional activities (e.g., executive education, consulting, industry partnerships).
Qualifications
Instructor – Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accountancy or closely related field anticipated by the start date.
- Must meet the AACSB classification of Practice Academic, Scholarly Practitioner, or Instructional Practitioner.
Lecturer – Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accountancy or closely related field.
- At least 4 years of teaching and service in Higher Education at the Instructor level or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference for candidates who hold a Master’s (Instructor) or Ph.D. (Lecturer) from an AACSB-accredited institution.
- Knowledge of AI in the Accounting discipline.
- Real-world expertise in relevant areas of business, including teaching, consulting, defense, or corporate experience in accounting.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CPA.
Essential Functions by Percent of Time
- Teaching: 60%
- Service: 30%
- Scholarship/Professional Activities: 10%
