About the role
Moorpark College seeks applications for part-time instructors in various disciplines for the upcoming academic year (Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and/or Spring 2027 semester). Applications submitted to this pool will be kept on file for the duration of the academic year and may be considered if a vacancy opens.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating the attainment of their academic or vocational objectives.
- Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance-mediated instructional settings.
- Evaluate and develop instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty; order instructional materials according to campus bookstore procedures to ensure timely delivery.
- Evaluate and update course content and materials of instruction in accordance with new theory, application, and industry developments within the discipline or area of specialization.
- Evaluate and update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty on a regular basis to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators for each course.
- Revise and update course content and materials of instruction in accordance with new theory, application, and industry developments within the discipline or area of specialization.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or engineering, and two years of full-time related professional experience*
- The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or engineering, and two years of full-time related professional experience*
- Possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.
Qualifications
- Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.
Skills
- Ability to plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes to maximize student learning in alignment with department, college, and district goals.
- Ability to maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes.
- Ability to evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration, as appropriate, with discipline faculty.
- Ability to revise and update course content and materials of instruction in accordance with new theory, application, and industry developments within the discipline or area of specialization.

Benefits
- Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
- Professional experience includes teaching experience. The requirement is for the stated number of years of full-time experience or the equivalent in part-time experience.
- Unpaid experience may be counted if it entailed responsibilities substantially similar to those of relevant paid positions in the field.
