Biology Instructor Pool-Part-Time

About the role

The Natural Sciences Division is seeking adjunct instructors to teach general biology lecture and lab courses, human biology lecture and lab courses, and biotechnology lecture and lab courses on campus or at dual enrollment sites for the Fall 2025 semester and beyond. Courses to teach include BIOL 101F, BIOL 102F, BIOL 102LF, BIOL 190F, and BIOL 190LF (Biology/NatSci).

Responsibilities

• Teach general biology lecture and lab courses
• Teach human biology lecture and lab courses
• Teach biotechnology lecture and lab courses
• Work with students at dual enrollment sites
• Develop and maintain course materials
• Participate in department meetings and committees
• Assist with program development and assessment

Requirements

• Master’s in any biological science OR Bachelor’s in any biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science
• Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area
• Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District

Qualifications

• MS or advanced degree in biology, cellular biology, developmental biology, ecology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or allied fields
• Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps

Pay

Salary range: $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lecture unit rate, $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lab parity unit rate, $1258.16 - $1380.60 per lab unit rate
