Fullerton College, part of the North Orange County Community College District, invites applications for part-time Biology Instructors to join our Natural Sciences Division. About the Role

The Natural Sciences Division is seeking adjunct instructors to teach general biology lecture and lab courses, human biology lecture and lab courses, and biotechnology lecture and lab courses on campus or at dual enrollment sites for the Fall 2025 semester and beyond. Courses include:

  • BIOL 101F (General Biology)
  • BIOL 102F (General Biology)
  • BIOL 102LF (General Biology Lab)
  • BIOL 190F (Human Biology)
  • BIOL 190LF (Human Biology Lab)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in lecture and laboratory settings for general biology, human biology, and biotechnology courses.
  • Examine, reflect, and adapt instructional practices to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.
  • Contribute to a multicultural learning experience that values diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Master’s in any biological science, or
  • Bachelor’s in any biological science and Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science, or
  • Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area, or
  • Equivalent qualifications as determined by the District Equivalency Committee (may include related education, training, employment, and professional experience).

All degrees must be from accredited postsecondary institutions and verifiable on a legible transcript. Foreign degrees and/or coursework require evaluation. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
  • Commitment to equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications

  • MS or advanced degree in biology, cellular biology, developmental biology, ecology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or allied fields.
  • Experience teaching in a community college or similar setting.

Pay

  • Lecture unit rate: $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per unit
  • Lab parity unit rate: $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per unit
  • Lab unit rate: $1,258.16 – $1,380.60 per unit

Salary placement is based on education and experience, ranging from Column 1 to Column 3 on the adjunct salary schedule.
