Full-time faculty members at Columbus State Community College are professional educators responsible for fulfilling the College's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. Faculty serve as leaders, teachers, advisers, mentors, and facilitators of learning. This position oversees and teaches in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program, providing instructional leadership, curriculum planning, adjunct faculty oversight, and promoting student success.

Essential Job Functions

  • Instruction & Curriculum: Computer Science Teach assigned courses and oversee curriculum according to departmental policies Design appropriate learning activities considering student differences Maintain accurate records, syllabi, and grades; communicate progress feedback Employ technology effectively in instruction and virtual environments
  • Student Engagement & Advisement: Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active learning and student interaction Maintain office hours and provide academic advising Colleges & Universities Refer students to appropriate academic and support services
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in maintaining instructional materials and facilities Contribute to curriculum design and development Participate in faculty evaluations, training, and professional development Share best practices and participate in departmental and institutional research
  • Professional Development: Maintain a personal portfolio for tenure and promotion Jobs Participate in college professional development programs Maintain required credentials and continuing education
  • Culture Of Respect: Foster a safe and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, students, and the community

Minimum Education And Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related field with significant GIS coursework
  • Education Minimum 3 years professional experience in GIS At least 1 year of teaching experience in higher education or professional training environments Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or Carto

Compensation

  • 9-Month Instructor Salary: $51,460 – $57,635 Distance Learning Optional Summer Semester (Full load): $16,648 – $18,646 Optional Overload: Autumn Semester (12 contact hours max): $11,520 Spring Semester (12 contact hours max): $11,520 Summer Semester (9 contact hours max): $8,640
