Adjunct Faculty - Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Job Description
The GIS/Drone Technology Department is seeking effective, collaborative, and enthusiastic adjunct faculty to teach courses in the Geographic Information Systems Certificate program. Adjunct faculty should be committed to teaching GIS concepts, technologies, and applied geospatial skills at the community college level.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have the ability to develop course materials, deliver instruction to a diverse range of students, and support student learning in GIS software, spatial data management, cartography, spatial analysis, and remote sensing. Teaching assignments may include introductory GIS courses as well as more advanced courses depending on departmental need and the candidate’s qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver GIS courses at the community college level
- Support student learning in GIS software, spatial data management, cartography, spatial analysis, and remote sensing
- Teach a variety of GIS courses including introductory and advanced levels
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field
- Experience with GIS software and technologies
- Ability to teach effectively to a diverse range of students
- Commitment to collaborative and supportive teaching environment
- Strong background in GIS concepts and technologies
- Experience with GIS software and tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Knowledge of spatial data management and analysis
- Ability to teach and mentor students in GIS and related fields
