Education Requirements
A Master’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree in a related field must have at least 18 graduate credit hours in Geography, including GIS coursework.
Experience Requirements
- College-level teaching experience or demonstrated ability to teach GIS subject matter is required.
- Experience using industry-standard GIS software and tools, such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, web mapping applications, spatial analysis tools, and/or open-source GIS platforms, is strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching in multiple modalities, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats, is a plus.
- Professional experience applying GIS in fields such as planning, environmental science, public safety, transportation, business, utilities, local government, remote sensing, or related areas is also preferred.
