Instructor - Electrical Lineworker Technology

About the Role
TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. You will facilitate activities and discussions that engage diverse learning styles, provide targeted guidance and mentorship, interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is integrating technology effectively to enrich educational experiences. Faculty also serve as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC, demonstrating the college’s core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity.
Responsibilities
- Instructional Delivery: Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction, develop course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes using creative and innovative techniques.
- Instructional Management: Fulfill assigned teaching schedule, maintain accurate student records, ensure a safe and secure instructional environment, and provide opportunities for student evaluation.
- Student Retention and Placement: Advise students with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information; collaborate with the Office of Student Success to promote retention through tutoring and support programs.
- Program Recruitment & Promotion: Participate in recruitment events, campus tours, and departmental planning to attract new students.
- Teamwork & Service: Exhibit courteous and professional behavior toward students, colleagues, and the public; maintain flexibility for evening, weekend, or summer assignments; work effectively in a team environment; and uphold the mission, vision, and values of TSTC.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Additional responsibilities may be required.

Requirements
- Verifiable work experience as an Electrical Lineworker.
- Hold a Class C driver’s license.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate knowledge of:
- Safety and work procedures.
- Line-associated protective equipment, including inspection and utilization of PPE.
- Utilization and maintenance of linework tools.
- Distribution and underground power utilities.
- Utility company operations.
- Identification of electrical systems, nominal voltages, energized parts, and approach distances.
- Linework field techniques, including installation of poles, conductors, transformers, and associated line equipment.
- Pole climbing.
- Basic transformer connections for single and three-phase transformers.
- Verification of customer service voltages.
- Reading staking and framing specifications.
- Underground switching and grounding.
- Transmission structures.
- Rigging and hoisting line equipment.
- Tailboard meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of verifiable work experience in Electrical Linework, with 5 of those years as a Journeyman.
- Journeyman Certification.
- OSHA Outreach Trainer Certification.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (Unrestricted).
- CPR/AED Certification.
- Previous training experience with lineworkers.

Pay
Salary range: $90,136 - $117,177 annually, plus up to $6,000 in annual retention bonuses. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
