Essential Functions
- Plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional program for students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.
- Cultivate an Elective class on various topics, ranging from but not limited to: Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Drama, Creative Writing, Current Events, Psychology, Sociology, Debate, Communications, Etiquette, Art, Dance, Chess, Karate, Yoga, Mentoring, etc.
- Teach students learning strategies, conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulative objects, props, and other learning aids.
- Prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class.
- Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
- Make recommendations on students' strengths and needs.
- Report student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
- Aid in the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
Additional Functions
- Transport students from one class location to another in a timely manner, ensuring proper supervision and safety of students.
- Must provide 24 hours notice in the event of an absence.
- The instructor must prepare classroom work for students and ensure the Teacher Assistant is prepared to deliver work or conduct an activity for students.
Prerequisite Qualifications
- Two or more years of teaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level.
- Completion of a background clearance check.
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in the designated discipline.
- Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school, or post-secondary level.
Salary Information
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate/range for this position is $40.00-$50.00(USD).
NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
