About the role
The Gadsden Correctional Facility in Quincy, Florida, is seeking educators to assist in improving the lives of incarcerated individuals.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula.
- Adhere to American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Correctional Education Association (CEA), Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC), and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.
- Deliver individualized competency-based instruction through classroom and laboratory management in occupational program areas.
- Select and adapt instructional materials to help inmates achieve mastery of competencies.
- Plan activities to support a progressive training schedule and monitor inmate progress.
- Maintain accountability of inmates and property, adhering to safety practices.
- Promote positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening with inappropriate behaviors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, required.
- Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
- A valid teaching certificate from the Florida Department of Education or comparable authority required.
- A valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
