About the role
Louisiana Special School District seeks a Special Education Certified Instructor to support the provision of special education services in an Intensive Care Facility. The position is needed to cover active treatment and meets the legally mandated educational needs of children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and provide rigorous, engaging instructional experiences for students
- Employ a total approach involving teaching of academics, communication, vocational, motor, self-help, and social subject matter
- Track student progress and make adjustments to ensure academic growth
- Ensure job goals align with the COMPASS teaching rubric components
Requirements
The position requires the following qualifications:
- Special Education certification
- Experience planning, organizing, and providing rigorous, engaging instructional experiences
- Ability to employ a total approach involving teaching of academics, communication, vocational, motor, self-help, and social subject matter
- Knowledge of tracking student progress and making necessary adjustments
- Understanding of the COMPASS teaching rubric components
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A valid teaching certificate or license with endorsements/areas of certification
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Ability to perform assigned duties without significant risk of substantial harm to oneself or others
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in moderate physical exertion
