About the role

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Maintains regular office hours
  • Serves on college or department committees as needed
  • Attends professional development opportunities when possible
  • Affixes with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus
  • Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
  • Participate in graduation exercises

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Automotive Systems Technology OR equivalent combination of education and work experience in Automotive Systems Technology
  • Four years experience in an automotive repair facility
  • Computer skills using basic functions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outook

  • Five years relevant industry experience in an automotive repair facility
  • ASE Master Technician certified
  • Teaching experience with assessment of student learning objectives (SLOs) in an Automotive Technology program
  • OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) Certification(s) such as GM ASEP, Ford ASSET, Toyota T-TEN, Honda PACT OR must be willing to become certified as the job demands

  • Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as BlackBoard
  • Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
