This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations. HII designs, develops, and integrates the sensors, systems, and assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision-making for the Department of Defense, the combatant commands, and the intelligence community.
About the role
HII Mission Technologies is seeking an Instructional System Designer (ISD) to provide contract support to Air Force Special Operations Command’s Technology, Integration, and Support Cooperative organization. As an ISD, you will apply the ADDIE process to training requirements to create and sustain courseware, develop work instructions, attend program and team meetings, and collaborate with team members, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to derive requirements and complete training modernization efforts for the clients’ courses.
Responsibilities
- Assist in migrating existing courseware in PDF and MS PowerPoint formats into Enterprise Learning Management System (LMS) (Moodle).
- Create a course structure in the LMS and manage students, instructors, course assets, assessments, and course data.
- Provide and maintain multimedia course materials in accordance with established customer requirements and Air Force guidelines and directives.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of organizational training products and online/e-learning academic training materials with guidance from the government customer.
- Adhere to approved style guides and customer instructional design plan that documents policies and standards.
- Participate in all parts of the ADDIE process for a variety of training projects and scenarios to ensure effective development of courseware content.
- Create and sustain work instructions.
- Participate in training needs analysis and gap analysis.
- Develop training using the program of record Learning Content Management System (LCMS).
- Create SCORM packages for upload to LMS.
Requirements
- 8 years relevant progressive experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; 6 years with a Master’s in a related field; or a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 12 years relevant progressive experience.
- At least 5 years of experience creating, developing, and sustaining formal training products using modern training tools to deliver Computer-Based Training (CBT) for web-based delivery.
- At least 5 years of experience applying Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles to analyze, design, develop, and implement training products, including Instructor Guides, Student Guides, Supplemental Teaching Materials, Work Instructions, and Job Aids.
- At least 5 years of experience developing training support materials for SOF-specific applications.
- At least 5 years of learning system administration experience.
- Ability to communicate with engineers, graphic artists, and subject matter experts to derive training requirements.
- Ability to read and understand technical data.
- Proven self-starter with the ability to interact effectively with military, industry, and academic partners.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams).
- Experience applying adult learning theory, training principles, and techniques to training development.
- Experience developing training and applying creativity to enhance customer training requirements.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Captivate, InDesign, InCopy).
- Experience using a Learning Content Management System (LCMS) as a developer.
- Experience with Multi-Media Design Architecture and eLearning standards, including Interactivity Level 2 & 3, SCORM, and Web environments.
- Willingness to learn and become proficient in Moodle LMS.
- Active SECRET clearance with the U.S. government required at hire.
- Proven experience supporting e-learning curriculum development, preferably within a military training context.
- Proficiency in using learning management systems and multimedia/graphic design tools.
- Familiarity with Air Force guidelines, directives, and instructional design methodologies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with government stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using a Learning Management System such as Moodle, Canvas, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with military training standards and developing training for the Department of Defense.
- Experience working with special operations forces.
- Experience creating work instructions.
- Experience developing Job Aids using Adobe Captivate.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to visit job sites in an industrial or shipboard environment.
- Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above floor level.
Pay
Anticipated salary range: $115,715 - $145,000 per year.
