Temporary position for 6 months, full-time at the Rock Creek campus.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Instructional Support Technician III to join our Aviation Maintenance Technology program. This role is pivotal to the success of our program, where you will provide critical support to our instructional team, mentor students, and foster the development of student talent. You will play a vital role in advancing workforce readiness by maintaining high-quality lab experiences, facilitating hands-on learning, and contributing to broader industry employment goals.

Responsibilities

  • Under the technical direction of faculty or instructional administrators, prepare multiple laboratories or classrooms following specified instructions.
  • Assist with the design, construction, and/or fabrication of equipment, modules, and experiments for laboratories or classrooms to support instructional outcomes.
  • Provide general assistance to students, faculty, and staff to ensure proper orientation to safety protocols and the use of laboratory equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment; assist in setting up laboratories.
  • Coordinate support activities for multiple laboratories; establish procedures for the use of equipment, supplies, materials, software, hardware, and machinery.
  • Provide work direction to student helpers, work-study students, and casual staff; coordinate work schedules to ensure coverage.
  • Orient new staff to laboratory procedures and policies; train staff in the safe maintenance and use of equipment; monitor performance and report issues.
  • Create EPAFs and process timesheets for students and casual staff, as needed.
  • Order departmental supplies, equipment, and instructional materials using the College purchasing card, ensuring adherence to purchasing guidelines.
  • Track expenditures and reconcile bank statements.
  • Maintain and inventory equipment, materials, supplies, written materials, software, and hardware required for student instructional needs; schedule or perform repairs.
  • Check out equipment, supplies, and materials to students; maintain contact with vendors.
  • Reconcile expenditure transactions for the assigned department against College database budget reports; process transfers of monies to ensure balanced accounts.
  • Authorize limited budget expenditures up to the authorized amount.
  • Maintain records of activities related to laboratory support, including data entry for acquisition, maintenance, and distribution of tools and materials.
  • Ensure the general cleanliness and security of laboratories or work areas; assist in providing a safe environment and report maintenance problems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of post-secondary education in a specific technical discipline appropriate to instructional support or two years of relevant experience (may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis).
  • Two years of experience supporting laboratory activities in the technical area.
  • Proven communication skills to assist students in understanding their tasks and lead others.

Success Criteria

  • Orient and train new staff on laboratory procedures, policies, and safety; monitor performance.

Pay

Initial salary placement will be between Step 1 ($26.40 hourly) and Step 2 ($27.20 hourly) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement. Placement at a higher step may be possible based on additional experience and internal equity.
