About the role

The Public Health Program is hiring full-time and part-time Instructional Support Specialists (ISS) to support upper-division courses in the public health core curriculum and other courses. Core courses include Introduction to Epidemiology, Global Health, Environmental Health, and Health Behavior Theory and Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist public health faculty with preparation and grading of homework assignments, quizzes, exams, papers, and other assignments.
  • Lead activities, demonstrations, discussions, and pre-exam review sessions.
  • Hold regularly assigned walk-in office hours, tutoring students on the assigned subject matter.
  • Provide course-based administrative assistance to the Instructor of Record, including grade reporting, maintenance of the course web site, and proctoring scheduled and make-up exams.
  • Aid in supporting students with university-approved accommodations (military, athletes, Disability & Access).
  • Engage in professional development activities, participate in trainings, prepare for the next semester of classes, etc., upon concluding the last day of class.

Requirements

  • Part-time positions require enrollment in good standing in an accredited graduate school of public health.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Candidates should have a student-centered approach and a commitment to fostering a challenging but nurturing learning environment.
  • Prior experience in supportive roles with students is a plus.

Benefits

Salary range based on qualifications: $45,333.33 - $54,400.00 + depending on qualifications.

Pay

$45,333.33 + depending on qualifications with Bachelor's degree
$49,866.66 + depending on qualifications with Master's degree
$54,400.00 + depending on qualifications with Doctoral degree

Schedule

Weekly Scheduled Hours: 27.5
