Essential Functions
- Working with identified students.
- Executing lessons already planned by the classroom teacher.
- Reporting to the classroom teacher any concerns that may arise (academic or behavior).
- Preparing for the day in case of absence (sub plans).
- Providing supplemental activities to use with groups as time provides.
- Being a role model for the students and teaching leadership attributes.
- Instructing according to PBIS procedures for handling minor classroom behaviors.
- Supervising students in the classroom, hallways, cafeterias, etc.
- Monitoring student behavior, promoting positive interactions, and addressing minor issues proactively.
- Aiding students with lunch procedures and supporting schoolwide expectations.
- Ensuring cleanliness and supporting cafeteria staff in maintaining an organized lunch environment.
- Enforcing administration policies and rules governing students.
- Substituting in classrooms when needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This job operates in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Required Education And Experience
- Minimum of 60 college credits/Associate degree and/or the required credentials under NCLB.
- Valid substitute permit.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
