About the role
Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for Special Education students on a traditional school campus without a Special Education teacher allocation.
Responsibilities
- Participate in committees and teams to monitor campuses and ensure compliance with state, federal, and district guidelines.
- Aid central and campus-based staff in using various types of data to impact instruction and assessments.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to develop and provide high-quality programming and training based on campus needs.
- Provide and monitor best practices for students receiving special education services.
- Offer curriculum and instructional support to special education and general education teachers.
- Implement a standard research-based coaching and feedback model to assist teachers with instructional growth.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide formative feedback to ensure the implementation of IEPs.
- Write and maintain documentation of observations and recommendations for Centralized Unit Supervisor review.
- Create and follow up with campus action plans addressing campus needs and communicate feedback and proposed resolutions to the Centralized Unit Supervisor.
- Attend critical Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meetings and provide coaching and feedback to campus administrators.
- Respond to Campus Requests for Assistance in a timely manner.
- May provide direct support to students in high-needs classrooms.
- Assist teachers with staff schedules and setting up individual student schedules.
- Deliver materials, consumable materials, data notebooks, portfolios, communication notebooks, work system materials, and Brigance books.
- Attend professional development in special education, mentoring, and leadership to stay updated on new research, technology tools, and curriculum resources.
- Provide continuous support to teachers and teacher assistants in the development of their profession by reviewing, analyzing, and providing effective feedback of their work in the learning environment.
- Assist the Centralized Unit Supervisor in conducting periodic internal audits of campus level special education data, records, and internal controls and make recommendations on preventive and corrective actions.
- Assist the Centralized Unit Supervisor in facilitating the activities related to preparing for, or participating in, Texas Education Agency complaints, mediations, and due process hearing requests as they relate to students receiving special services within your assigned network.
- Manage complex cases in cooperation with administrative staff.
- Maintain accurate records, organizational skills, and professional conduct to achieve the goals of the position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teacher's certification with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.
- Minimum five years of successful teaching in a public or private school setting.
- Ability to work effectively with community organizations, schools, residential facilities, governmental agencies, parents, students, and others in a pluralistic setting.
- Demonstrated computer literacy in special education program applications.
- Demonstrated ability to align special education instructional standards with TEKS.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral format.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum trends, innovative programs, and best practices for secondary programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of structured teaching methodology and techniques.
- Experience in developing, analyzing, and implementing Federal, State, and Local Special Education regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of computer operations such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Suite, and Outlook email.
