Instructional Specialist, Teaching, Career Connected Learning (Grant Funded)-5

About the role

Responsible for providing an instructional program designed to assist teachers with developing skills in the preparation of effective learning (lesson) plans, presentation of content, classroom management, and school and community communications. Works with Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. This position is funded by external grant resources. Employment is contingent upon the availability of funding and program needs.

Responsibilities

• Improves learning opportunities through the provision of instructional leadership including planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs relevant to the needs of the student.
• Develops and provides students with written course expectations and maintains progressive evaluation methods.
• Ensures that Dallas College’s vision and mission are reflected in all aspects of the student learning experience.
• Maintains accurate student and other records as required by law and the Board of Trustees and Administrative Procedures Manual.
• Enforces student policies or monitors enforcement of student policies.
• Develops and maintains industry and/or community partnerships with local, state and national organizations that are beneficial to program/discipline in order to achieve the mission/goals of the organization or program.
• Provides student guidance related to program and monitors student success.
• Contributes to the proposal and/or implementation of college courses to support curriculum development or program implementation.
• Maintains accurate student and other records as required by law and the Board of Trustees and Administrative Procedures Manual.
• Coordinates the requisition of supplies and instructional materials as needed.
• May supervise or direct the work of others.
• May develop and administer assigned budget allocation.
• Provides excellent customer service.
• Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Non-transferrable Teaching Positions: Bachelor’s degree in related field plus three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of demonstrated teaching experience and one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience or Associate’s degree in related field plus three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of demonstrated teaching experience and one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.
• Transferrable Teaching Positions: Master’s degree in related field or Master’s degree with 18 hours in teaching discipline; three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of demonstrated teaching experience and one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience.
• Official transcripts are required.
• Some positions may require specific state licensed/certifications depending on the discipline.
• Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Qualifications

• Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment.

Skills

• Knowledge of instructional systems design and development models, principles, and practices.
• Knowledge of student learning theory and methodology, and their application in managing training delivery.
• Knowledge of a variety of software/hardware programs and the ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports.
• Knowledge of current educational trends and uses best practices.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, along with effective listening and interpretative skills, in order to clearly communicate information, ideas and instructions to individuals within the college community.
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, administrators in the community college environment.
• Ability to demonstrate skills in effective communication through the exchange of information and ideas in ways that promote mutual understanding and effective decision-making.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with individuals from various backgrounds and varying levels of Dallas College students and staff.

Pay

Salary Minimum $54,537.00 Annually
