Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in instructional design preferred
  • Experience in technology training preferred
  • Three years' higher education experience preferred

Skills

  • Practical knowledge of current instructional theories, principles, and national standards for the delivery of online education, face-to-face, and hybrid courses
  • Knowledge of current technologies in various hardware and software applications, such as information processing, database management, content management systems, spreadsheet analysis, and graphics
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to manage time, resources, and projects
  • Able to be agile and maintain attention to detail and priorities
  • Team player able to work in a collaborative environment and independently
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Forward thinking, innovative, and student focused

Specialized Knowledge & Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of learning management systems and how to lay out courses and training for all delivery methods, preferably Canvas
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows and Apple OS
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience with interactive, lecture capture, and related tools
  • Working knowledge of ADA compliance
  • Building and delivering professional development sessions

About the Role

Montgomery County Community College is transforming the lives and communities to meet the evolving educational, workforce, and cultural needs of Montgomery County at its Blue Bell and Pottstown campuses and online. MCCC offers more than 100 associate degree and certificate programs as well as customized workforce training programs.

Responsibilities

The Instructional Designer - Technologist designs and develops rich learning environments to provide an interactive and engaging learning experience. They also promote the use of instructional technologies, design, learning practices, and management of resources through various methods with a focus on pedagogical and andragogical enhancements and the success of the students.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or related field, with a Master's degree preferred. Experience in instructional design is preferred, as is experience in technology training. Three years' higher education experience is also preferred.
