About the Role

A member of the professional staff, the Instructional Designer II contributes general knowledge and skill in instructional design to support team and department objectives. This role involves designing training materials for various delivery methods, including instructor-led, computer-based, web-based, and mobile training, while working under close supervision or within well-established guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and projects, often managing small projects or components of larger ones.
  • Respond to and solve non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.
  • Contribute to team, department, and business results, potentially directing the work of non-management staff.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to enhance business process effectiveness and establish priorities for self and others.
  • Allocate time effectively to meet goals without disadvantaging other associates or groups.
  • Contribute to department/unit budget as appropriate (e.g., input, following guidelines).
  • Demonstrate awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement, acting independently to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Use established methodologies in all stages of the instructional design process: needs assessment, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Conduct analyses to support program development and develop curriculum in multiple formats.
  • Design engaging training materials for instructor-led, computer-based, web-based, and mobile training.
  • Develop and package training products using computer-based training (CBT) authoring systems (e.g., Captivate, Storyline).
  • Collaborate with Graphic Artists, Programmers, and Subject Matter Experts to create interactive multimedia courseware.
  • Research and identify data sources for instructional material development.
  • Design interactive training materials using sound instructional design methodology and appropriate training strategies.
  • Develop evaluation tools to assess trainee knowledge and performance.
  • Work independently without appreciable direction, resolving issues with training deliverables and making necessary modifications.
  • Scale design efforts to meet production timelines and targeted interactivity levels.
  • Stay updated on training and development research, including learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 3+ years of direct Instructional Systems Design (ISD) experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing courseware training materials.
  • Experience in the hospitality, timeshare, or sales and marketing industry.
  • Proficiency with eLearning authoring software (e.g., Captivate, Storyline).
  • Experience using established methodologies in all stages of the instructional design process.
  • Experience developing courseware outlines, storyboards, graphic requests, onscreen lessons, instructor guides, trainee guides, test questions, and assessments.
  • Experience creating graphic design elements that support learning efforts.
  • Experience developing Instructor-led training and support materials (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, job aids, participant materials, instructor scripts).
  • Demonstrable experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (preferred).
  • Knowledge or experience in emerging technologies such as gamification, chatbots, and AI.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration and reporting.
  • Experience with video editing and animation software (e.g., Camtasia, Vyond).
