About the role

The Instructional Designer position at the Y in Central Maryland is dedicated to transforming ideas into dynamic learning experiences that empower associates to grow, lead, and make an impact.

Responsibilities

  • Design engaging learning experiences for classroom, virtual, and online environments.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to turn operational knowledge into effective training.
  • Develop e-learning, videos, facilitator guides, job aids, and performance support tools.
  • Leverage instructional design best practices, emerging technologies, and AI tools to create innovative learning solutions.
  • Support onboarding, compliance, leadership development, workforce development, and enterprise learning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience designing learning for adult learners.
  • Strong project management and collaboration skills.
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with instructional design tools, learning technologies, and content development software.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in instructional design or related field.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other e-learning platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of instructional design theories and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in instructional design tools such as Articulate, Captivate, or Lectora.
  • Experience with AI-powered learning solutions and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
