Instructional Designer
Job Summary
Our client, a leading energy and utilities provider, is seeking an Instructional Designer to join their team. This role is responsible for managing instructional design and performance support projects, partnering with stakeholders to develop engaging learning solutions, and driving training initiatives that support business objectives.
Contract Details
- 12-month contract with potential for extension and possible full-time conversion based on business needs
- Location: San Diego, CA
- Hybrid schedule: Onsite Monday–Thursday, remote Fridays (subject to change)
- Equipment provided by the client
Core Responsibilities
- Manage multiple instructional design and performance support projects from planning through implementation
- Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to identify training needs and develop effective learning solutions
- Create engaging eLearning content and performance support tools utilizing the Articulate 360 Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
- Develop project plans, monitor timelines, troubleshoot issues, and provide guidance to project team members throughout the project lifecycle
- Evaluate instructional programs, recommend process improvements, and identify non-training solutions when appropriate
- Research and apply current instructional design trends, technologies, and best practices to improve learning outcomes
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Adult Education, Educational Psychology, Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of instructional design experience
- 3+ years of project management experience
- Hands-on experience with the Articulate 360 Suite, including Storyline and Rise
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and video editing tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while adapting to changing business needs
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Adult Education, Educational Psychology, Management, or a related field
- Experience with Cornerstone Learning Management System (LMS)
- Knowledge of instructional design theories, adult learning principles, and performance improvement methodologies
- Experience conducting training needs assessments and evaluating learning effectiveness
- Knowledge of statistical analysis methods related to training evaluation
- Experience supporting enterprise-level learning initiatives within large organizations
- Strong PowerPoint design and presentation development skills
