Instructional Coach/Enrichment Specialist
Job Summary
The Instructional Coach/Enrichment Specialist reports to the Building Principal and supervises students at Gavin Central Elementary School. The coach supports teachers through professional development and in-classroom support, and also assists with the enrichment needs of 2nd through 4th grade students.
Job Goal
Gavin South Middle School seeks a dynamic Instructional Coach to support teachers. The coach will work closely with the administration to provide professional development and in-classroom support for teachers. Additionally, a part of this job will be to support the enrichment needs of our 2nd through 4th grade students at Gavin Central Elementary School.
Performance Responsibilities
- Models instructional strategies in classrooms
- Teach enrichment classes to 2-4 grade students in need of deeper learning opportunities in order to expand curriculum
- Co-plan and help with literacy strategy integration
- Co-teaching at times with classroom teachers
- Aids in the implementation of the District MTSS plan
- Co-teaching at times during core reading and math tiered MTSS instructional blocks
- Implementation of professional learning at the building level around literacy skills and strategies
- Supports and helps to enhance the implementation of district curriculum
- Becomes an active member of building and district leadership teams
- Works with first year teachers as a mentor
- Organizes, plans, and leads family reading opportunities throughout the school year
- Plans, implements, and follows through with training to support teacher-based teams
- Increases the quality/consistency/effectiveness of classroom instruction
- Ensures implementation of adopted curriculum to meet the needs of all students
- Ensures that student achievement data drives instructional decisions in classrooms
- Expands teacher's use of a variety of resources to improve instruction
- At times works directly with students to meet learning goals
- Cultivates a culture that is positive, values others, and supports innovation
- Demonstrates evidence of good interpersonal skills with colleagues
Qualifications
- Hold Illinois Educator Certification with correct and current endorsements for Grades K-4 & meet all Highly Qualified Status Requirements (reading endorsement and/or reading specialist preferred but not necessary)
- Have a record of successful teaching experience
- Have at least 3 years teaching experience with primary-age children
- Experience preferred using DIBELS, MAP, STAR, and 95% Group
