JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach 5th-8th FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (Professional), salaried employee WORK DAYS: 190 days (does not include holidays) STANDARD HOURS PER DAY: 8 hours per day WORK YEAR: The work year for the Instructional Coach 5th-8th begins approximately 3 workdays before the first scheduled attendance day for students, and ends approximately 3 workdays after the last scheduled day for students. SALARY SCHEDULE & BENEFITS: The Instructional Coach is paid on the "Teacher" salary schedule, and is eligible for benefits on the "Teacher" benefits schedule. REPORTS TO: Instructional Coach reports to the Building Principals and Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning SUPERVISES: N/A GENERAL SUMMARY: The role of Instructional Coach, 5 - 8, continues to have an impact on Teaching & Learning in MSD Warren Township Elementary schools. Essential Functions Support teachers with the implementation of effective reading/math strategies and interventions that increase student achievement through collaboration and coaching.Coaches teachers in Science of Reading practices and ELA instructional best practicesCoaches teachers in Reveal Math practices and instructional best practicesCoaches teachers on student achievement and academic outcomesCollaborates with teachers (planning and resources)Supports Principal with the implementation of the Literacy FrameworkAnalyzes student data for coaching conversations (IREAD/ILEARN and ILEARN Checkpoints)Meets weekly with Principal for "Principal Partnership" meetingsReports on weekly coaching calendarShares teacher goals and progressUpdates Principal on instructional trendsLeads district aligned, building-based professional development and supports teachers through implementation of those best practicesLeads professional development at the building level and district levelCoaches teachers on the implementation of professional development practices, based on School PathwayDevelops teachers, new to Warren, in the area of instruction and classroom managementCollaborates with Grant Coordinator & New Teacher Instructional Specialist, 5 - 8.Supports New Teachers with classroom management and instructional routinesCoaches New Teachers through ELA and Math Curriculum ResourcesCollaborates with Instructional Specialist, 5 - 8 Literacy to effectively communicate the districts instructional vision:Meets regularly with Teaching & Learning TeamsEvaluated by Director of Curriculum & Professional LearningExhibits an understanding of current scientifically-based research in instructional practices and continuous improvementAttends professional developments aligned with Teacher PathwayAttends professional developments aligned with School PathwayModels professional growth practices in classrooms on a regular basisActively participates in building level data meetings, data collection, and analysis of school-wide data based on district calendarsAttends data meetingsParticipates in data protocolsAnalyzes school based data with PrincipalAssists teachers in the use of district common assessments and benchmarking data to guide instruction and track academic performance:Meets with teachers to analyze data from benchmark assessments and checkpointsCoaches teachers on formative assessment useCollaborates with teachers to design efficient data-tracking practicesDevelops teachers in their use of digital content to support instructional practices and tracks monthly data:Supports teachers with the use of IXL and ALEKS/RedbirdContributes to the development and revision of curriculum; serves on curriculum mapping team:Attends all curriculum mapping sessionsParticipates in a deep level of mapping for at least one grade level to promote coherenceSupports projects based on grant writings and supervision of Title I GrantSupports textbook adoption process for reading materials and math materials (6 year rotation)Promotes adoption processes to teachers and can answer questions about all optionsSupports Journey of a Graduate implementation:Supports teachers in implementing JoG strategies within the classroomSupports the development of capstone projectsDevelops and maintains such records and reports as are necessary to the successful execution of the job:Maintains a calendar accessible by T & L Team and Building LeaderMaintains current, up-to-date coaching documentationAssumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
