About the role
This position provides academic support in various subjects for participants of the TRIO Student Support Services program. The role involves direct interaction with students in one-to-one, small group, and classroom settings.
Responsibilities
- Conducts one-to-one and small group tutoring in math, science, and general studies subject areas.
- Diagnostics student tutorial needs and evaluates participant progress.
- Develops and implements supplemental curricula, materials, and instruction for basic skills courses.
- Facilitates educational workshops and presentations for students in high-risk courses.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of student progress and tutoring sessions.
- Works with and/or demonstrates various types of audio-visual materials, computer applications, and other instructional materials.
- Meets with faculty regarding student progress and course content/materials, as needed.
- Affords assistance in the recruitment and retention of program students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in math, science, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience working directly with underprepared post-secondary students in an academic environment.
- Demonstrated success in motivating and encouraging students.
- Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team.

- Possess basic knowledge of fundamental Math/English/Science concepts.
- Knowledge of exemplary instructional methods and practices.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail.

Benefits
The position is part-time, non-bargaining unit, Grade 10, with a minimum hiring rate of $24.00/hour. This is a 100% grant-funded position and requires the employee to reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of the work location/campus.
Pay
$24.00/hour
Schedule
A total of 25 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 9:30 – 3:00 (30-minute break).
