About the role
Applications are currently being accepted for an Instructional Assistant / Nursing in the Healthcare Department at San Diego College of Continuing Education’s Harbor View Campus. Selected candidates must be willing to adjust work days and hours based on departmental needs.
Responsibilities
- Support nursing instruction and student learning in a noncredit adult education setting.
- Assist faculty with classroom management, lab activities, and clinical preparation.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials, equipment, and supplies for nursing courses.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring and guidance to students in nursing programs.
- Monitor student progress and report concerns to faculty or program coordinators.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standards in nursing labs and clinical settings.
- Assist with student orientation, registration, and program information sessions as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success and retention in nursing pathways.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Completion of a nursing program or related healthcare training is desirable.
- Experience in healthcare, education, or student support roles is beneficial.
- Knowledge of nursing terminology, procedures, and educational standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and learning management systems.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member organization; evaluation must be submitted with the application.

Pay
Salary range: $5,338.39 – $5,918.77 per month (Range 18), starting at Step I ($5,338.39). Salary negotiation is not allowed. FLSA Non-exempt; may accrue overtime.
Schedule
Full-time, 12-month position with a 1.0 FTE equivalent. Work days and hours may vary based on departmental needs.
